day 29: january 29th

Today we:
played basketball
sat in time out
played monopoly
stood in the corner in time out
raced 360 bikes
and again, sat in time out

(today is the last day of steroids. Can you tell?)

day 25: January 25th

Jake had clinic today. He started a new round of treatments, which means he had his second to last back poke today! Hooray! We are nearing the end. I will admit that it is a little surreal. I never thought we would get here... three years is a long time. BUT we are. And the end is in sight.

This is just as Jake is coming out of his drugged state:) Today was better than usual when they pushed the versed through his iv-- he was talking up a storm and suddenly his eyes glazed over and he just dropped down. Kinda funny especially as he kept telling the doctor repeatedly that he was not tired yet.

This sweet boy played all afternoon in his fort... I love that his book is upside down:)

And just because I loved these ones as well:

Day 23: January 23rd

This little man is still sick. The flu has turned into a nasty croup-y cough. So, no church for him today. Instead we watched Curious George yet again and colored and played in the bath all morning long.

Day 20: January 20th

My poor baby is sick with the flu today. Curious George and Sprite seem to help. AND the binky. That darn binky. He has about three weeks left with it. Three years old is my time limit.

Day 18: January 18th

webIMG_0692 copy
We got to spend a little bit of time OUTSIDE today! It was actually in the 30's if you can believe it. Sometimes I wonder why we put ourselves through the misery we call january and february. I think I need a vacation to somewhere that there is actually sun and not just grey!

Day 17: January 17th

Today we went to the Hill Air Force Base Museum. I think all little boys are obsessed with anything that has an engine on it. At least mine are...

Day 16: January 16th

Lazy sundays: You can usually find Jake reading or watching his new obsession... Harry Potter. He just started the fourth book and re-watches the movies weekly. His new goal is to go to the Harry Potter theme park in Florida. One day!

Day 15: January 15th

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR DADDY!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

webIMG_0349

Lucky Jeff got to ride on a train yesterday for 15 hours. It took about two hours longer than it was supposed to. (arriving home at 5:18 in the morning. The nice wife sat at the train station for an hour and a half before he showed up. I am a little tired today.) Needless to say, he was not at home to enjoy the cupcakes that Cole made for his birthday that were 'JUST for my dad'. So we sang with our lovely on tune voices as loud and obnoxious as we could just for him.

He is not here today, so we have to settle with some candles. Maybe tomorrow.

Day 10: Januray 10th

webIMG_9991

I have a problem when it comes to children's books. It is the one thing I feel no guilt buying, Which means, we have more than we most likely need. One of my good friends told me about this one... "Pete the Cat". The link to the youtube video is here. It has become one of our favorites the last couple of weeks. Santa brought it for Crew. He and Cole will run around the house singing, "I love my red shoes, I love my red shoes" which has now changed into just about everything... including "Mommy is my best friend!" (no brainwashing in our house!)

day 9: January 9th

Little boys and their grandpa's:

day 6: January 6th

The key is to play as loud and as fast as possible. (according to Cole-train)

Day 5: January 5th

I don't really like January. I think it is a depressing month. These make me feel better...

Day 3: January 3rd

We woke up this morning to a letter Jake had written to Cole:

Coletrain,
You may be kind of rude but you are still an awesome brother. I want you to know that I love you and you are the best 5 year old I could ever know. So thats why I drew you this picture.

Day 1: January 1, 2011

I love the thought of being able to see your life through pictures. I think that this is why I started taking pictures in the first place. I love the pictures that tell a story... I have wanted to do the 365 day challenge for a few years now-- a picture a day for a whole year. I read somewhere that a life will flash before your eyes and this is one way that it can be put into perspective. I have also always wanted to become better at photojournalism, considering I totally suck at it! That is my goal through this whole thing! No posed pictures, just real life. I want to capture my family through a whole year. I am a little nervous as every day is A LOT! Chances are I will post every few days... so, here it goes! HAPPY 2011!
